Untitled

I was sitting alone
Staring at the ceiling
When hope landed
On my window.

It was green and very small
Barely noticeable at all,
But there it was –
Strong and daring.

And there it stood
Very quietly and still –
Staring blankly back at me,
Peacefully anticipating.

I must confess –
Being stared at like that
Felt unbearably disarming,
So I did nothing.

Naturally,
The little bug grew impatient,
It lingered for a moment
Then finally flew away.

Left alone and hopeless
Feeling suddenly deserted -
I let a lonely tear
Drop heavily upon my hand.
